Week of November 24, 2024
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. – Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)
Thanksgiving Eve Service at Hanover Center: Join us at 7 pm on Wednesday evening, November 27, 2024, at the Hanover Center church for our annual Thanksgiving Eve service. This is always a lovely evening on which we gather to give thanks for all the ways in which we have been blessed. It's a special time for our community and we can't wait to see you there!
Thanksgiving Outreach Project: As it has been our church family tradition for approximately 100 years, we will again fill "Thanksgiving Cheer Bags" with food, notes and lots of love. They will be delivered to neighbors, friends, and those in care facilities. This project will be funded by donations that were received at the Summer Band Concert.
If you would like to help deliver etc. please talk to Maxine Wallace or Norma Pelton.
Also, on Sunday, November 24, we invite everyone to bring non-perishable items for the Lebanon Listen Food Pantry. Let’s share our blessings with others.

Advent is nigh! Christians around the world prepare for the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, in the flesh during the church season of Advent. Advent begins on Sunday, December 1st. We look forward to sharing the season, and the good news of Advent this year as fall transitions into winter, and we again celebrate the coming of Light into the world.
“Community Creches”
Do you have a special creche or Nativity scene that could be shared with others in Etna?
A new Christmas tradition is being introduced this year!
Bring your creche, be it simple or elaborate
to be part of a display of creches from the community
for a few days in December.
They will be displayed in the sanctuary of the Etna Baptist Church
for the community to enjoy and take a quiet moment
in the midst of the holiday hustle and bustle
This is being planned for the week of December 9 – 14
Monday & Tuesday for set-up; Wednesday – Saturday morning for contemplation.
Volunteers will sit with the display for a few hours each day.
The sanctuary will be locked when no one is present.

Joyful Bells Bell Choir: Sunday, December 8, the Joyful Bells Bell Choir will be joining us for a special concert at 1pm. They’ll also be giving us a little preview of the concert in the Sunday worship service that morning as well. Mark your calendars!
Bible Discussions: We offer two weekly opportunities to spend time with the Scriptures and with friends! On Wednesday mornings at 10 am in Trumbull Hall (Etna), join Pastor Chris for deep and lively discussions sparked by the previous Sunday's sermon.
On Sunday mornings at 9 am (also in Trumbull Hall), we're reading and discussing Hebrews. This week we'll be looking at Chapter 12.
No previous Bible study experience required in either case. Interesting and stimulating conversation is guaranteed. Both discussion series include coffee and time slot-appropriate snacks. We look forward to seeing you at either or both!

[Jesus said] “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” text – John 14:1-7 (ESV)
